Calvin’s cardiac rehabilitation certificate provides a fully online program for recent graduates, career changers, and working professionals to prepare to step into the in-demand role of a cardiac rehabilitation specialist.
Through our three-course program, you'll learn to confront rising health challenges like obesity, heart disease, and diabetes, gaining skills that include:
- EKG interpretation and cardiac rehab protocols
- Exercise testing and prescription strategies for diverse populations and performance goals
- Data analysis and performance tracking to evaluate rehabilitation progress
- Clinical decision-making and ethical reasoning grounded in a Christian perspective
- Preparation for the 1,200-hour internship as part of the criteria to sit for the ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist exam
The certificate is also an excellent onramp to our full MS in Exercise Science program, which requires an additional seven courses to complete.

Application Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Personal statement
- Two recommendation letters
- Recommended prior coursework: anatomy and physiology, biology, and chemistry. These courses can be taken at Calvin the summer prior to the start term if desired.

Completing the certificate will provide the knowledge and skills preferred for completing an internship. 1,200 clinical hours are required to sit for the ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist exam. Students who continue studies in and complete the Calvin MSES degree would be required to complete 600 hours.
