- 6:30 pm–8:30 pm
Chapel Sanctuary
We are excited to announce our 2026 Bouma Lecturer, Dr. Glenn E. Bracey, II, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Villanova University and co-author of The Religion of Whiteness: How Racism Distorts Christian Faith. Dr. Bracey is an award-winning teacher and scholar and an important emerging voice on issues ranging from critical race theory to racial protests and national politics.
Dr. Bracey will be speaking on the topics of his book, discussing the definition of Religion of Whiteness, and how this religion affects churches, politics, divides families, and its harms to communities of color. Throughout the book, Bracey and his co-author show how the Religion of Whiteness shapes the practice of Christianity for millions of Americans - and what can be done to confront it.
Dr. Bracey lecture is scheduled for Monday, March 23 at 7:00pm in the chapel sanctuary. Join us early for refreshments in the chapel undercroft starting at 6:30pm.
This event is sponsored by the DeVries Institute for Global Faculty Development, the Sociology and Social Work Department, and the Donald Bouma Lecture Series. The Donald Bouma Lecture series combines excellent scholarship and public discussion highlighting contemporary social issues, in order to explore how we may promote positive change.
