She first gained attention through her project "The World Needs More Love Letters," which began when she started leaving handwritten letters of encouragement for strangers struggling with loneliness. Her heartfelt initiative grew into a global movement, and she later shared her story in her TED Talk and books such as If You Find This Letter and Come Matter Here. Through her writing and speaking, Brencher encourages authenticity, hope, and the power of small acts of love to make a big difference.

Professor of Education at ��ɬֱ��, Dr. Smith directs the Kuyers Institute for Christian Teaching and Learning and is a coordinator for the de Vries Institute for Global Faculty Development.
